Reach for the Stars: CubeSat Immersive Training Program


Bring space technology down to Earth with the CubeSat Immersive Training Program, an after-school STEM enrichment initiative presented by EdgeFlyte for the Cheyenne Children’s Museum.
Unlike general science kits or digital simulations, this program gives students the rare creative opportunity to design, build, and command real, standardized miniature spacecraft—the exact same technology used by NASA and aerospace industry leaders. Every participant receives their own personal CubeSat kit for hands-on assembly, experimentation, and eventual take-home ownership.
Through project-based learning that aligns directly with Wyoming Content and Performance Standards (WYCPS), students will jumpstart their journey into the high-demand worlds of aerospace and engineering.

Choose Your Mission Track


We offer two distinct, age-appropriate tracks tailored to different skill levels, and both maintain small cohort sizes to guarantee high levels of individual attention and hands-on guidance.


Middle School Track: CubeSat Intro Series (Designed for Grades 6–8 | Maximum 20 students per cohort) This track is perfect for younger students ready to explore the fundamentals of space technology in a guided, collaborative environment. Using a simplified, plug-and-play CubeSat kit that requires no soldering, students will learn core satellite concepts while building excitement for STEM. Participants learn structural assembly, explore built-in sensors like temperature, humidity, and air quality, and run interactive mission simulations. This track builds confidence in teamwork, critical thinking, and basic electronics, culminating in a formal Certificate of Completion.


High School Track: CubeSat Classic Education (Designed for Grades 9–12 | Maximum 10 students per cohort) This track is designed for older students ready to dive into serious technical depth and professional engineering practices. Using the full EdgeFlyte CS1 1U CubeSat Kit, students will master advanced electronics and real-time operations. Participants build the structural frame, master safe electronics soldering, program firmware, and utilize professional GTerm ground station software for telemetry, command, and control. Ultimately, students earn three formal industry certifications in Soldering Proficiency, CubeSat Intro Systems, and Satellite Command & Control, which serve as ideal credentials for resumes and college applications.


Program Features at a Glance


Our program is one hundred percent hands-on with no boring lectures, ensuring students spend their time building, debugging, and operating physical hardware. Because every student takes home their assembled satellite at the end of the course, they can look forward to continued learning long after the program ends. The program starts on Monday, September 14th, meeting twice a week for two hours per session. This experience provides strong technical pieces for academic portfolios, including technical logs and analyzed mission reports that prove real-world skills.
